Also This {a poem}

Some days you just want to cry for no reason
except no reason is actually so many reasons
too many to name so instead you lug your body
out of bed drink coffee lace up sneakers
run even though your legs feel like lead because
you can you remind yourself to look up notice
the light over the hills the tenderest spring colors
blushing tears sort of hovering behind your eyes
but not spilling over dream remnants floating
like debris yes you can count your blessings
and still feel this tightness in your chest catch
in your throat heaviness in your limbs ache
deep in the pelvic floor where the roots of you
reach down and down you wonder as you often do
this time of year how you will keep going where
the energy will come from what if what if you can't
red-winged blackbirds lighting on old fence posts
flashes of color one step at a time sure enough
you do you run slowly but still this way you make it
all the way home where you hear knocking on glass
look up second floor apartment your wife's face
in the window she opens it and says hey
there's a cute woman in my driveway you smile
suddenly shy knowing you don't have to hide
from her or anyone else for that matter you get to
be your whole self and some days you want to cry
for no reason except all the reasons and also this
also this always also this
